Some of these beauty ‘mistakes’ may be surprising to you! I know I used to do some of these
One: Keeping Makeup Too Long
This was something I was just made aware of in the past year and that is keeping makeup for too long. What you may not know is that your makeup expires!! That little number near the bottom of your makeup means the amount of months it expires in. Cream products will expire faster than powder products. It’s now time (for me as well!) to go through your makeup and toss out anything that’s expired. One thing that helps me is to put a little label on it and date it when you first open it. I especially do this for mascaras since you should only keep them 3 months after opening. That way there’s no guessing or feeling guilty when you need to toss it.
Two: Taking off Your Mascara
It is so important to take off all your mascara at night. Don’t leave any lashes with mascara on them or they will dry out and get brittle over night which may lead to more lashes falling out. I suggest using an oil cleanser which will melt all of it off. I love this cleanser for that- it’s amazing!! And another note about mascara: try not to use waterproof mascara day to day unless you are going to a pool party etc. Waterproof mascara is especially hard to get off and very drying for your lashes so only use it when absolutely necessary.
Three: Not Washing Your Brushes
This is one thing I need to do more frequently and that’s wash my brushes once every week or two. This is so important to prevent breakouts and bacteria build up on your brushes (especially brushes you use liquid or cream products with). I just use a scent free hand soap and this brush mitt which I LOVE and highly recommend. It speeds up washing your brushes and prevents your hands from getting too dry. Total game changer.
Four: Not Changing Your Pillowcase Frequently
This goes hand in hand with washing your makeup brushes and that is washing your pillowcase often. Just like brushes, even if you wash your face, oils and dirt build up from not only your face but your hair– especially if you don’t wash your hair every night. So all of that is going on your freshly washed face which is not good!!
Five: Not Applying Enough Moisturizer
For those with oily skin and are afraid to apply moisturizer, moisturizer is so necessary in balancing out your skin. It will actually make you less greasy, therefore, less breakouts! One I’ve been loving lately that is great at balancing out your skin is this one.
