One of the most asked questions I get is how I curl my hair. Today I thought I’d share my tips for how to curl long hair and make it last all day. Because we all know it’s nice to have pretty curls but if they don’t last then it’s no good. I can’t even tell you how many different curling tools and hairsprays I’ve tried so what I’m sharing today are the best of the best!! Also I wanted add this process only takes about 10 minutes!! Which is great for me because it used to take over 20-30 mins for me to curl my hair! Let’s first start with my favorite curling iron…

If you curl your hair a lot I highly suggest you invest in a styling tool. This T3 curling wand set is the one I use and it’s a dream. Before I get into how I use it, I want to share all the features! The neat part is that it has interchangeable barrels (1″ straight, 1.5″ straight barrel, & a 1.25″-.75″ tapered barrel). It has 5 heat settings and comes with a travel/storage pouch. Also for all you ladies with long hair, this barrel is longer in length so all my hair fits when wrapped around the barrel which is a very important feature for me!

So now onto how I curl my hair…
Prep
After washing my hair, I spray this volumizing mist and blow dry my hair with this blow dryer. I find when I do this, my hair doesn’t get as greasy and doesn’t weigh my hair down (which is very important for getting curls to hold). I then heat up the curling wand to the 3rd heat setting and it is so quick to heat up! Most of the time I use the 1″ straight barrel with it. Also, I get my hair clips ready too… these are used to pin the curls up to cool.
Curls
I start curling my hair with my hair parted the way I like which is a middle part for me. I take 1″ sections (or 1.5″ section if I want a looser wave) and curl away from my face with the wand pointing down. For instance, if I’m curling the right side of my hair, I hold the wand with my left hand and wrap my hair with my right hand. I hold the hair on the wand for about 5-7 seconds, it gets very hot so you don’t need to hold it for long! I release the curl into the palm of my hand *it’s important not to let it fall* and take the hair clip and pin it to your head.
Repeat these steps until you’ve curled your entire head. While I let the curls cool, I will do my makeup or do some work. This step is probably the most essential step if you want the curls to last because if you let them down when they are hot, gravity will pull them to a looser wave.
Finish
After I’ve let the curls cool, I take out all the pins and lightly mist my hair with this HG hairspray. One mistake I think many people make is they over-spray their hair with hairspray. If you over spray it, you are then weighing your curls down with too much product and therefore not making them last as long. With hair products, less is more!!
After I mist the curls I will then brush through the curls to not make them piece-y. And that’s it! The first time you try this especially if you’ve never used a curling wand, it make take extra time. But I recommend just practice and you will get better!
Also- quick side note, if you are a Sephora VIB or VIB Rouge member you can get this wand get 15% off here!
