The holiday season is one of my favorite times of the year. I really enjoy the process of decorating and making the spaces of my home look like a winter wonderland. In one of my recent YouTube videos, I filmed how I decorated my office space with a blush, white, gold and cream color palette. So today, I thought I would break down how to decorate for Christmas using blush tones. I’m so happy with the finished look of the space and feels very light and airy. I hope you enjoy it!
With the holidays, they usually bring colder weather, depending on where you live. I rounded up my favorite winter coats in this year’s coat guide here.
How to Decorate for Christmas Using Blush Tones
Layer Your Tree with Different Textures

I like to start the decorating process with my tree. I put it in the corner of my office in between the fireplace and my large mirror, and think it turned out beautiful. The tree is 7.5 feet tall and is flocked. I know some prefer the traditional green tree without flocking, but the white the flocking adds goes well with my blush-toned theme. I’m sure I’ll switch to a more traditional tree in the future though. This tree is at a great price point and has held up so well over the last several years. So I highly recommend it, if you’re in the market for one this holiday season.
The tree is pre-lit, so I didn’t have to worry about stringing lights. However, if your tree isn’t pre-lit, start by stringing the lights on your tree first. Try to position the lights towards the core of the tree, so you have room to put your ornaments, picks and ribbon. To protect your hands while decorating your tree, try wearing cleaning gloves. Next, add your picks and sprigs throughout your tree. Picks add texture, dimension and fill in any gaps between the branches the tree might have. Choose picks with different textures. I linked the ones I used this year in the widget below.
Next, you can add your ribbon. A simple and easier way to add ribbon to your tree is to cut them in strips. I cut mine into 24 inch strips and looped them throughout the tree. It looks like one big piece of ribbon strung throughout the tree, but really it’s just small pieces. I chose to use a soft pink with wire this year. Ribbon with wire is much easier to work with, in my opinion.
Last comes your ornaments. I found some really fun ones this year. Some are hearts, glittered roses and others are traditional round ornaments with varying colors in gold, pinks and silver.
Smart Plugs for Your Lights
This year, I used smart plugs for all of my lights used in my Christmas decorating. You just plug the smart plug into the wall and then plug the lights into the smart plug. Then, you can set the lights on a schedule from the app on your phone. You can also manually turn them off with a click of a button on the app too. That way you never have to worry whether or not you turned the lights off before leaving the house. Simply check your app, and you’ll know whether the lights are off or not.
Coordinate Your Mantel with Your Tree Decor

For my mantel, I chose a flocked un-lit 9 foot garland to coordinate with my tree. First, I strung some white lights around the garland. Then, I added the same picks I used for my tree into the garland to give a whimsy, feminine vibe. I finished the mantel with a variety of Christmas trees in varying heights.
I love having this fireplace in my office space. If you don’t have a fireplace in your living room or somewhere else you’d love to have one, I highly recommend this electric option. It looks real and adds an element of cozy you can’t get with anything other than a fireplace.
Style Shelving Throughout the Space
Because my closet system takes up a good portion of the office space, I wanted to incorporate some holiday decor into that as well. I strung another 9′ flocked garland across the top, using Command Hooks to hang it. Then, I strung white lights around it and added some mini ornaments to give it some color. I also add pine cone picks for more texture.
For the shelving, I removed a few purses and shoes and added more bottle brush and mercury trees. I also added some adorable light-up houses that are white and pink throughout the shelving. If you have anything that looks fall-ish, remove those pieces and add a holiday-themed decor item. There were some pink peonies on my closet shelving and removed those and put the small flocked tree with the velvet ribbon instead.

Because I use my large mirror so often, I added a bit of decor to the top of it using some garland. This garland came with soft blush peonies throughout. But if you can’t find one like it, then you can always add florals throughout your garland to achieve the same look. My mom made a large bow from velvet ribbon and added it to the garland. She made it so that two large pieces were hanging down from the bow, and we strung those across each side.
Add the Finishing Touches to Your Table and Chairs

To finish the space, I added a mini wreath to each of my chairs. I added a touch of pink with another velvet ribbon bow. To each chair, I put a white pillow with gold stitching throughout. I also added the Walmart throw that you all have been loving from Walmart. It’s the Barefoot Dreams look-for-less blanket that’s been the number one best seller the last two weeks, and for good reason! It’s amazing!
On my marble table, I added a simple tray and incorporated two small all-white houses and a mercury tree. To fill in any holes in the tray, I put some mini ornaments to give the tray some sparkle and texture.
I love how this space turned out and can’t wait to celebrate the holidays to come. Happy decorating!
