If there’s one thing I took away from going to New York Fashion Week, it was to go out of your comfort zone every once and a while and try trends that are similar to your style. Not all trends are for everyone, but one I have personally been wanting to rock lately was the sheer top trend. It so fun and flirty and not your everyday outfit– it’s meant to be worn out for a night with your girlfriends or for date night (but I wouldn’t recommend this for a first date). Keep reading to the end for sizing and outfit details!
When I saw this sheer black top with swiss dot and bell sleeve detail, I was sold. I actually bought this with the intention to wear to NYFW but I didn’t get the chance to wear it.
To style this little black number, I have 3 tips for pulling off this trend.
One: Add a pretty underlay
Of course, you are going to need a really cute piece to wear underneath this top since the top is sheer after all. I wore one of my favorite black lace bras. It’s pretty inexpensive and so girly and fun and it comes in a wide variety of sizes too. If you want to be a tad more conservative, you can also wear something with a longer line like a bralette. Love these bralettes here. And during the day, you can wear it with a camisole underneath for a daytime appropriate outfit!
Two: Wear it with a skirt
I highly recommend you wear a sheer top with a higher-waisted skirt since the proportion will look better. I paired it with this faux leather skirt but think it would also look so pretty with a pleated skirt.
Three: Wear it with confidence
As with any trend, you need to wear it with confidence otherwise the clothes will wear you- you need to rock it! Add some of your favorite pieces of jewelry and shoes to make you feel your best!

Top: Fits True to size- wearing xs and is a boxy/very forgiving fit (size down though if you are between sizes)
Skirt: TTS Wearing size 0 (very fitted)
Pumps: Order a half size up- I usually wear an 8 but for some reason they don’t sell an 8 so that’s the main reason I went up a half size but they ended up fitting perfectly and I’m so obsessed with them!!!
