I recently did a fall shoe must-haves video over on my YouTube channel, and I can’t wait to share all the details on the blog today too. We talk a lot about clothing staples for different seasons, but it’s also nice to have the right shoe to complete a whole look for every occasion. I’m sharing your ultimate fall shoe guide from mules to flats to boots and all the shoes in between.
If you’re interested in more curated fall looks, you’ll love my fall wardrobe essentials video and this fall Amazon haul.
Your Ultimate Fall Shoe Guide
Heeled and Flat Booties
Booties are one of my top staple shoes for the fall season. Knee-high or over-the-knee boots used to be the “it” fall shoe, but I think I’ve seen a shift to it being more the bootie. My very favorite pair of booties are these Marc Fisher pair. I actually have them in three colors, and are very comfortable. For the their quality, they’re at a great price point at just under $100. They fit true to size too. I recommend having one pair of neutral brown or taupe and one pair of black booties as staple shoes for the fall season.
You’ll notice some of the booties have a heel and others are flat. Flat-heeled booties can be worn to more casual events and activities throughout the fall like apple or pumpkin picking. I’ve included a lot of other bootie options at varying price points in the shop the post below, so be sure to check those out too.

Athletic Shoes and Sneakers
Another great type of shoe to include in your fall shoe collection are a pair of comfortable athletic shoes. I love this Adidas pair because they’re very lightweight, and they’re perfect for taking walks or traveling. The pure white color with the faded bronze Adidas lines on the sides are very chic and classic.
Casual white sneakers are another great option to wear casually with jeans. These sneakers are ideal to wear on the weekends while running errands. They’re a great Golden Goose look-for-less option.

Fall Sandals
On my Instagram page, I asked you guys if you’re attending any fall weddings this year. Several said you were, and this line up of shoes will have you covered for those occasions. These strappy heeled sandals pair well with dresses, and are neutral enough to go with any color. A block heel is also a great option to have and are very comfortable to wear throughout the day.
All of these options would also complete a workwear look, Sunday best or going to dinner. The braided-heeled shoes are very popular this year, and found several affordable options.

Flats and Mules
Mules and flats are a great alternative to boots to wear with jeans and dresses throughout the fall season. These Sam Edelman mules are probably my most-worn mules because of their comfort and durability. They’ll last you for many seasons to come, and won’t have to replace them for a while. If you want a more affordable option, this pair from Amazon is one of my favorites. They’re a Gucci look-for-less and love the gold-buckle detail.
I also found some feminine and girly mule and flat options for those that love that type of style like me. They’re perfect to wear to the office or to wear casually with jeans.

Tall and Over-the-Knee Boots

The final staple fall shoes category are tall and over-the-knee boots. This slouchy pair from Goodnight Macaroon are very comfortable and on-trend for this season. I also have a pair of over-the-knee boots from Goodnight Macaroon, and I’ve had them for years. The quality is excellent, and you can’t go wrong with a neutral heel to pair with a variety of outfits.
Like I mentioned earlier, I think over-the-knee boots are taking a backseat to the “it” shoe, but I think they’re a great option to have in your closet. They pair well with dresses, skirts and on top of jeans. If you don’t like tights, they’re nice to have a decent amount of leg coverage with skirts and dresses without having to wear tights. I have a pair of the Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots, and they definitely live up to the hype as far as quality goes. They’ll last you fo years and years.
